Situated in a hamlet between Redruth and Porthtowan, Mawla is a small family church within the Camborne, Redruth and Hayle Circuit. Built in 1908, by ancestors of members of the present day congregation, it is a forward looking church serving a rural community.
The church features a community hall, opened in our centenary year of 2008 by Mr J G Stevens, following the sale of the old Sunday School and combined with much fundraising by the church members. The hall features a modern kitchen, two toilets (one of which is for the disabled) and an entrance for wheelchairs directly into the hall. It is heated by a gas boiler system.
The church, which retains its original pews and character, holds services on a Thursday morning at 10 am, followed by refreshments in the hall, provided by members on a rota basis.. Needless to say, everybody is welcome .
Following Covid our services were changed from Sunday to Thursday because of the availability of Preachers. We also closed the church during the months of July and August, when gatherings were held in the gardens of church members. As this has proved to be popular with all, we have continued it to the present time.
We are registered for Weddings and available for all other types of services.
The hall is also suitable for family parties, quizzes etc.
